Oh what a ride it’s been

So Megan will most likely get on my case for not posting in decades, but unfortunately I have my reasons.

First, I spent most of last weekend moving into my new apartment. Imagine my apartment in Philly, and then cut it nearly in half. It was a lot smaller than I thought when I decided to lease it. Oh well, I will go about thinking of it as cozy. Which it is when I fill it with all my shit… which as many of you know is quite a lot of shit. On the upside I went to Crate and Barrel to order more shit to be delivered. A new micro-suede couch, and a very large buffet/hutch combo. Hah, the poor suckers delivering it have no idea that they have to then get it up 3 flight of stairs. Which also by default means I will have to live here forever as I am damn sure not moving this stuff out. Perhaps I will just have to set fire to the whole complex… I don’t much like gated communities anyway. Except of course when it is keeping out the large variety of homeless, gangbanger, or prostitute like neighbors that live just outside my little sanctuary. I do howver have an excellent view of Midtown and from my bedroom window I can gaze out on the Bank of America building (the big rocketship).

Second, I have two projects at work that are kicking my ass. First was the Spain project, the new “supposedly eco-community” design. I put in over 80 hours a couple weeks ago. Then we are working on a confidential project which requires me to work late and on top of that be flown out to Denver to learn how to use a plug-in for GIS… I must note that I don’t know how to use GIS. Oh well, I guess I’m cheap work and everybody wants to get in bed with me. On the upside I found out yesterday that we got the project in Spain, and so the likelihood that I will be sent over there just went up. Which also the reason that I begin my evening Espagnol class at Emory this week. Hola! No mas leche!

Thirdly, and on a very sad note. My little kitten Tiger was becoming more and more skinny, and his belly became more and more rounded. I took him in on Saturday because even though everyone kept telling me it was normal for kitttens to have bellies I knew something was wrong. As soon as I took him out of the carrier the vet said he had what is known as FIP. It is a fatal disease with no cure that fills the poor kitties cavities with fluid. Apparently he would have died within a few weeks. I had to decide right then and there to put him down. It seems that he had it all along, had been infected at the shelter. There was nothing I could have done differnt. At least I can be thankful that there were no decisions to be made. However now I am dealing with a battle of hoping the other one is not infected. They know so little about this disease even though it is the third largest killer of cats. Lily may have it and it hasn’t shown up, she may be a carrier… or she may not be affected at all. All I know for sure is that I have made the decision to get a new kitten today, I can’t bear to watch Lily looking for her brother anymore… and using me as her sole playmate, to torture and abuse as she would another kitten. Trust me I have the war wounds to rpove it. Sorry to depress.

Well, I’m off to adopt again.

ps. One year from today I will be getting my hair done to walk down the aisle. Freaky.
